$70,975 for what amounts to be a German hot hatch that isn’t the GTi with a weird greenhouse and a lot of boy racer add ons.

Its odd that they put performance and safety in the same category. Usually lack of one means more of the other.

I missed that that day. But peak stupidity indeed.

Of course, nobody who can fog a mirror pays MSRP for these cars. Still, that’s a lot of scratch, but maybe no different from what they cost in other markets anyway.

Considering you can have a $101.000 dollar A-Class in Germany this doesn’t surprise me.

Right? Which tells us that its overpriced from the get go.

Yea thankfully, with a quick search, most dealers that have them in stock, at least near me, have them for just under 61 grand. Still too much though.

I test drove one of these while car shopping in 2016...it was well optioned and they would have sold it well under $60k. That was still way over my budget (I was looking for a used or CPO car), but it at least indicates there’s a lot of room to move below MSRP on these.

Also, the interior does not look or feel commensurate with that price and the hatch area was too small for my needs, so I settled on a used Audi SQ5, which was just great for the 13 months I owned it.

Yea something tells me they dont move many of these things so that leaves some haggling room. But I would never buy one.

But the interior of both the GLA and CLA is terrible for a Mercedes, especially when you get into the higher trims and the AMG models. Good choice on the SQ5 though.

You can load up 4cyl C-class to about that much, too.

Yeah, the SQ5 was very good, especially the interior. And then, relevantly, I got bored with it and bought a C63 AMG.

This gen of C Class is grossly overpriced to me. A C300 should not be nearly 42 grand with no options.

It’s a pretty penny for a 4cyl car built in Alabama. But they gotta slot in the CLA somehow.

Anyone who can pass a presidential mental competency exam can probably get 10% off anyway.

They sell very few of these. And no one pays nearly that much.
